Arcola
When there was an appeal discussion for this wine, the main problem was the question, whether the official name of Arcole should be supplemented with the additional term "Vini di Sabbia" (on. sand wines).
The small town of Arcole is right in the center of the DOC appeal area, situated between the provinces of Verona and Vicenza. The soils in these areas are characterized by a high content of dust and sand, which gives the wine produced here a specific aftertaste. Ultimately, however, it was decided to abandon the additional term, to avoid accidental associations with the wine Vin de Sable from Provence, which has nothing to do with Arcole, nor in terms of taste, nor the grounds, on which it is produced.
Arcole D.O.C.. includes a wide variety of red wines, the best of which are Merlot Riserva and Cabernet Riserva, both matured in wooden barrels for two years.
