Tortona Hills

Colli Tortonesi area, including 30 municipalities located in the province of Alessandria, it stretches between Monferrato and Oltrepo’ Pavese. The Colli Tortonesi DOC appeal essentially covers two wines: one produced from the red Barbera grape variety, the second, white of the Cortese variety.

Although the cultivation of both strains has very long traditions, there is no mention of them in the literature of earlier periods. These varieties have lived to see the first, a more detailed description only as one of the items in the systematics of grape varieties grown in the territory of Piedmont, issued in 1798 year by Count Nuvolone, director of an agricultural cooperative in Turin.
