Bolgheri i Bolgheri Sassicaia
BOLGHERI the BOLGHERI SASSICAIA (DOC)
Bolgheri, also known as "golden oasis of the Maremma", is a center with a long agricultural tradition, in which from the very beginning was involved in the cultivation of the vine. In the past, this commune was extremely rich. However, in 1393 year the castle and the city were demolished. Despite their reconstruction in the following centuries, Bolgheri regained its former glory only in the 18th century., thanks to the activities of Count Gherardesca, considered to be the founder of a modern city.
Rod Gherardesca, with Lombard-Tuscan roots, introduced the rules, which stimulated the economic development of the area, increasing the fertility of these areas and increasing the production carried out there. Bolgheri has thus become an extremely important agricultural center, in which the art of viticulture has developed widely.
In historical documents, in this area of production, it is referred to as "light wines, red and white ", giving their exact organoleptic characteristics, which have survived unchanged to our times. These wines have been rediscovered and perfected by the great families of Tuscany, which breathed new life into the traditional production of light wines.
