Duck (Anas domestica)
For over 2000 years old, the duck is one of the most valued domestic birds. The Romans were especially fond of dishes from this bird, whom they skilfully raised and fattened. They even considered it, that duck meat has healing properties. And so, for example. Plutarch argued in all seriousness, that Cato's family and servants had been spared by the plague in Rome, Thanks… ducks eaten abundantly. This is nonsense from a scientific point of view, but “faith moves mountains”. Perhaps then, that Plutarch's information is the first journalistic duck or its prototype. Duck meat, if it's not too greasy and old (the best are six months old), most suitable for baking, especially on the spit. In Poland, duck roasted with apples is an almost national delicacy, especially in the fall. Duck meat is very tasty and aromatic, but fatty and not easily digestible.
