Arborea

Arborea

The wine takes its name from the town of Arborea, situated in the heart of the fertile plain, stretching to the Gulf of Golfo di Oristano, on the west coast of Sardinia. Lowlands rising only a few meters above sea level, in combination with a hot and homogeneous climate and good access to water, have made, that in this area fruit and vegetable production developed particularly well (mainly citrus, peaches, pears, melons and watermelons). The economy of this area is based on it.

These favorable conditions encouraged local growers to also cultivate vines and produce wine. Selected grape varieties were imported from the continent, ensuring, above all, constant high quality and yield. The Sangiovese variety was used to produce red and rosé wines, while the Trebbiano grape was selected for the production of white wine. Thus, local winemakers have secured a secure harvest and an easily marketable product on the Italian and French markets..

Improvements over the past few decades in both cultivation techniques, as well as production, significantly improved the quality of wine, which in turn, translated into better sales results. It's fun, fresh and easy to drink wine brings the pride of the village, whose name appears on the label. Efforts to improve wine quality have been rewarded in 1987 year, when the Arborea wine obtained the right to use the DOC appeal.
