Hills of Faenza
Faenza is a city with ancient roots, rich in monuments and works of art. During the Renaissance, it gained fame as a leading center for majolica production. Many languages use the name of this Italian town to describe this specific type of pottery: "Faience" in Polish, „faiance” in french, if "faience” in English.
Wine was produced in the surrounding vineyards for many centuries, which, like other wines from this area, was good, but he lacked a distinctive personality. In the late seventies, a group of foreign winemakers, attracted more by the beauty of the surroundings, than the potential of the surrounding vineyards, she decided to settle here permanently. With their arrival, new grapevines were introduced to cultivation and the technique of wine production was improved. The success was immediate, and the wines produced by visitors gained widespread recognition.
Local growers, looking jealously at the results of the actions of his colleagues from abroad, have decided to make profound changes to their vineyards, declaring their openness to any innovative solutions. Their efforts were rewarded in 1997 year, in which the appeal of Colli di Faenza DOC was brought into being. The most important wines included in this appeal are Rosso Riserva and Sangiovese Riserva, which successfully compete with the most renowned types of red wine in Italy.
