One of the oldest and most typical grape varieties grown in the Marche region is used to produce this wine. To Maceratino, klon Verdicchio, which states from 30 do 50 percentage of total coupage. Name of the variety itself and the Colli Maceratesi Bianco area, where its cultivation developed comes from the city of Macerata, nestled in the hills, known for its rich wine traditions. Here, history is intertwined with the present day, creating a harmonious reality, in which, thanks to maintaining the natural status quo between the city and the countryside, it was possible to achieve the effect of lasting balance and harmony.

Macerata was erected on the ruins of the ancient commune of Helvia Ricina. Looking at the city today you can see, how much it has grown in breadth and length, outside the strict sixteenth-century historical center. The surrounding views are reminiscent of the descriptions contained in the works of the poet Giacomo Leopardi, which was in nearby Recanati in the first years of the nineteenth century, he created his works, which were to make the beauty of the local landscape known all over the world.

Wines from vineyards from the Macerata area are a perfect addition to the dishes of the local cuisine, which is based on the natural products of this land, it is considered one of the best in the region. Most of all, fish dishes are very popular, served in numerous restaurants along the coast, and among them the famous broth of Porto Recanati (seafood in sauce). The specialties of the cuisine of these areas also include ciauscolo, a type of salami obtained from three times ground pork, pressed into a casing made of natural animal intestines, which is customary in the cuisine of the Apennines and foothills of this mountain range. Served as a starter, it tastes great when spread on bread. The local broth and poultry dishes are also very popular. Served with red and white wines from Colli Maceratesi , dishes of local cuisine gain a unique flavor.
