Sprouts and seedlings can be used to prepare a variety of dishes: salads, soups, "Porridge", loaves, as well as drinks, such as green juices or a rejuvenating drink (Rejuvelac). Here are some basic provisions and suggestions, which can be treated as a kind of basis for developing your own culinary compositions, depending on your fantasy or taste preferences.
Rejuvenating drink - rejuvelac:
Soak the cleaned wheat seeds for 10-15 hours. Discard the water and allow it to germinate for two days. Pour the sprouted seeds with approx. 3-times the volume of the grains. Leave the jar of water and sprouts on at room temperature 24 hours. After 24 hours, pour the liquid into another jar. This is the finished drink (rejuvelac). The remaining sprouts can be reused (up to several times), pouring water over them 24 hours.
It is a slightly fermented drink, which can help with digestive problems. It contains proteins, carbohydrates, phosphates , vitamin B, C i E. It is precisely the presence of vitamin E that the drink got its name from.
It is a good idea to prepare a fresh drink every day. If we don't drink it right away, should be stored in the refrigerator (but not longer than 2-3 days). This drink can also be sweetened with honey and colored with beetroot juice. We will then obtain an excellent non-alcoholic "red champagne".
